Minetest boat mod#
As of yet, I have not found a mini-map mod, and if anyone is willing to contribute the mod and the (required) source code, put it on the forums for all to benefit from. There's a built-in Public Server List that you can see and optionally join said servers. Servers can run on less powerful hardware than Minecraft servers, still needing a good-enough system for several players.

Random: As the client actually downloads the mods, players don't need to worry about missing out on "optional features" that some mods enable by the server. Be warned: not all servers will allow you to use fly or other special features. the pause menu, or view and change current values in the main menu.
Sound: Less than Minecraft due to the base game not having random music, but that may be a benefit to some when it comes to in-game default music conflicting with a mod's music. Frame rate is a lot better on my system, especially since it requires the OptiFine mod on Minecraft with lowest settings. Visuals: It looks pretty simple, but remember that this is still in its early stages.
